    Storm approaching Manhattan

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     As storm clouds blanketed New York, mpb11 was at his East Side apartment on the 29th floor when he captured the storm front approaching Manhattan. With a clear and great view of Midtown Manhattan and the Empire State Building, he says the ominous looking clouds were moving quickly with heavy winds. "The wind was blowing all the papers around in my apartment! About 10 minutes after I captured this shot, the rain started and I had to close up the window," he says. "I was in awe at the power of nature and its ability to produce storms like that. It almost seemed like an apocalyptic scene as those clouds were racing towards me." This image was selected as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for September 7, 2012.
