    Mud Festival

     
    In 1998 Mud festival first started in Boryeong, located about 200km southwest of Seoul, South Korea. This year Boyreong mud festival takes place during 14th to 24th of July at Daecheon beach. It is located on South korea's west coast in Chungcheongnam-do province. It started to promote Boryeong's local cosmetics, which are made from the same mineral-rich mud. The mud comes from the nearby mud flats and is taken to the festival grounds by truck.The mud, which is believed to have the beneficial effects on the skin due to its mineral contents. Mud sucks the body's waste out of the skin's pores and supplies the skin with minerals and moisture. It is also believed to be beneficial in treating certain skin diseases.The festival offers lots of fun, such as mud slides, mud prison, mud massages, water cannon, mud -wrestling and mud skiing tournaments and body painting using colored mud. The festival has drawn attention as visitors are able to experience mud-themed games and have a chance to use mud products. People throwing mud at each other, immersed in pools of mud for entertainment.
    It is nice to see a lot of Koreans and foreigners together enjoy the same event. It has become one of the most popular destinations for foreigners living in Korea.The event has been named Korea's best national festival for the last three years and it now has been recognized as a top national festival by the government. It's also received several international festival awards.The festival now attracts more than 2 million visitors each year.
    If you are not a big mud person, you can enjoy the beach life in Daechon beach. This is the best beach on the west coast. The white sands of this beach that stretches 3.5 km. A large open air stage is erected on the beach, which is used for live music, competitions and dance performances.The festival is closed with a large firework display.
