London 2012 is open for business

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     chopsm lives in London where he was able to watch the Olympics’ opening ceremony right outside his home. 'It was amazing. We had a large screen HD television, but being able to look outside our balcony and feel the fireworks was wonderful,' he says. A highlight of the event was seeing the Queen and James Bond parachuting into the stadium. He describes the opening ceremony as being 'so very British,' he says. 'I felt emotional throughout the event. Being a proud Londoner, I have counted down the years, months, days till the start.'
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

The London 2012 Olympics are now open, welcome all athletes, visitors and people around the world through your TV screens.

For 7 years, since winning the Olympics host city rights, us Londoners have watched, engaged, moaned (a little) but most of all anticipated this day. Ok so I could not get tickets for the Olympic venue but I live in Hackney one of the host boroughs of the London 2012 Olympics. The view from my home meant I could see, even feel, the awesome firework display that ended the most British of opening ceremonies

I can't wait to see the drama unfold before me!
