This iReport is part of an assignment:
Remembering theater shooting victims
Let's turn the tables...
I did these drawings and made this video in hopes that, somehow, this tragic and senseless act will make people put more focus on the heroes and the victims instead of the piece of human garbage that did this.
The first time I heard of the shooting I went into shock.
A MOVIE THEATRE? Does anyone else find that one of the most astonishing things about this?
These folks didn't go hang gliding or bungee jumping or skydiving...all of those things you do with the knowledge that you may be hurt or killed doing them...and you're making a concious decision to take the risks.
But a MOVIE THEATRE?
The monsters are taking away all the places we've always felt were perfectly safe. Schools, restaurants, parks, concerts, malls...and now movie theatres.
How did we get to the point where we have to tell our kids, "Come on guys, we're going to see that new Disney flick...put on your bullet-proof vests and helmets!"
Is agoraphobia no longer a psychological condition, but rather, a new way of life?
As long as society continues to focus on, and even glofify the perpetrators instead of the victims, that's where we're headed. The bad guys just won't stop until they have removed every last place of solice we have.
It took me five days and nights of almost no sleep to put this together...but I just had to do it.
I still have my three children. Twelve families don't.
Let's focus on what they have lost, and deny the shooter the one thing he craves the most...
