McWay Falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park Beach

80 foot tall McWay Falls (referred as a "Tidefall") drops on to the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park Beach near Monterey California. It flows to the Pacific from a natural spring source high in the mountains overlooking this truly unique landscape just off the Cabrillo Highway (US 1). When I venture out to a beach, I prefer not to be surrounded by sun tanners and loud music but rather by the sounds of nature itself. Here, you can see few people but plenty of rugged nature that is surprisingly is easily accessible via well maintained trails, stone chiseled steps and protective guide rails. Bring your camera and let nature do her thing.
