This iReport is part of an assignment:
Chick-fil-A demonstrations |
Fat-Fil-A
I'm sorry, but all these people who are standing in lines and waiting in idling cars to make a statement in support of a company that serves greasy chicken and french fries and is owned by a guy who seems to be insensitive to the rights of gays aren't patriots and most don't strike me as genuine free speech advocates, either.
I am sure some of them are, but most of them are probably just fatties who feel threatened by gays and other liberals who make them feel helpless and fat. Or something. Or maybe I just don't get it?
Full disclosure: I never heard of Chick-Fil-A until last year. There is a reason for that. I looked up the nearest one to me and found out there is only one in the whole state of Washington. Yeah!
It happens that the one Chick-Fil-A is on the campus at Western Washington University in Bellingham (hundreds of miles from me) where my youngest son is about to enter his senior year. I'm pretty sure he didn't stand in line to get some chicken and french fries today. More likely he was waiting in a shorter line at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. He seems to like that joint. I dunno why. ;)
Let's promote tolerance and love and stop being so proud of bigotry and freedom to do whatever we damn well please. It's really embarrassing. Ya know, cause I'm American too and we have a reputation for being obese and ignorant. I hate that.
Thanks for listening to my rant!
