My girlfriend and I wanted to take a nice trip this summer, so a few months back we looked at the map and decided southeast is were we would head.
I had been to the Smokey Mountains last year and knew she would love it there. We both kept looking at Savannah on the map, neither one of us had been there and heard nothing but great things about it, so that was put on the list, we also decided to visit a couple museums in D.C. on our way back.
We started by getting a cabin in Cherokee N.C. just on the edge of the Smokey Mountain National Park. We stayed there a couple days and traveled through the park on our way to Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area and back. We came across a herd of Elk as soon as we entered the park, a beautiful flowing stream that continues next to the road for miles, and countless beautiful landscapes.
After two days in the Smokey’s we ventured 6 hours south to Savannah. We stayed at the wonderful Marshall House Bed And Breakfast in the heart of the Historic District. It’s walking distance to all of the beautiful squares that are located throughout the city. Just a few blocks from the city market and about a 10 minute walk to the famous fountain in Forsyth Park. It’s also only a 20-minute drive to Wormsloe Historic Site, with the most amazing row of Oak Trees with Spanish moss hanging from them.
After a few days in Savannah we made our way north with stops at Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach for some swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, before finishing the trip with a visit to several of the Smithsonian museums in Washington D.C. (No photo in this gallery)
