Clouds in the Mountains of North Carolina
The mountains of North Carolina are splendid. They created spectacular scenery, good hikes, and astounding weather. Weather is generated by the winds in the mountains. The updrafts and downdrafts control the level of clouds. The roundness of the mountains often causes the cell to go in a circle and hitting the tallest mountains. In Boone, NC it is Grandfather Mountain. Rising higher than 5,280 ft, Grandfather is a magnet for bad storms.
Some of these pictures of clouds are of recent and some are of a few weeks ago. This will give you a general picture of clouds in the Appalachians.
