Are Overly Noisy Churches Turning Attendees Deaf?
I am no doctor as yet, if God provides the way, sends a scholarship maybe and leads me there, I still plan to pursue Medical Studies. Until then, I wish Dr. Sanjay Gupta of CNN or any other medical correspondent could do some research in this regard.
I don't know how it is in the USA and other countries, but in some Caribbean Churches, it is terrible! The noise is so deafening that you can bearly hear your neighbour asking you a question or they can barely hear you answering.
Sometimes I just barely sing because it makes no sense trying to sing loudly, because my voice and the melodious voices of others can barely be heard. If this is the way churches operate, it's better that they just allow attendees to come and be entertained rather than participate.
I definately know all churches are not like this. I have attended churches before in my home island federation of St. Kitts - Nevis that keep their music to an appropriate level so the voices of all could come through clearly during the worship and the music could be heard well too.
I've also been to churches that continue to deafen me. I think I'm going to start excusing myself or sitting closer to the door. God expects us all to be wise. Being wise is saving our ears from the destruction the EXTRA LOUD CHURCH MUSIC IS CAUSING. I will ensure to protect my ears and my wife's ears (when God gives her to me) and those of my children.
The Ball lies in your court to let your ears and the ears of your babies be impacted or DAMAGED forever!
Churches NEED to tone down the NOISE - or should I say worship? God is a God of ORDER - I wonder what he would say if he were here on EARTH.
I won't go into NOISE POLLUTION - That is another issue all by itself.
Note Well: Before coming to this medium where I have the world as my audience, I have always denounced the unecessary extra loud noises, but to no avail. I would hope that this article would get people thinking, and pastors, leaders and churches ACTING to help to SAVE THE EARS of congregations.
If they don't listen and you're looking for a great future career - think about studying to be a MEDICAL DOCTOR and becoming an EAR, NOSE and THROAT SPECIALIST. You'll certainly have many CHURCH CLIENTS, PARTIALLY DEAF CHILDREN WHO BECAME THAT WAY FROM ATTENDING CHURCH - I CAN ASSURE YOU of that indeed.
