    Severe Weather Looms Over NYC

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Just having returned from hiking in Northern New Jersey, PaulBNYC85 says he beat the storms home by about an hour. "The storm was not as ferocious as the clouds overhead made it seem it would be, but to see the lightning blaze across the sky over Manhattan was a wonderful sight to see," he says. "We had heard reports of strong winds and sporadic tornado warnings, but we were fortunate to only have a 30-minute downpour and occasional lightning."

    Severe weather rolls into New York City. A view from our home across the Hudson River. This brought a brief downpour and frequent lightning. Intense cloud cover over the World Trade Center site and Freedom Tower. Hoping the crane operator was long since shut down before this hit.
