What do the Paralympics mean to you? |
The Graffiti Olympics
This photograph was taken on a street corner in East London's Hackney Broadway Market. The image is painted on the side of a Fish & Chip restaurant in a popular up and coming part of London which is fast becoming the place to be for the Hipster Generation.
The image is by a graffiti artist known by the moniker "Pure Evil" who is reported to be a stable mate of world famous graffiti artist Banksy. The item is called 'The New Logo for the Hackney Looting Team' and was part of a response by Pure Evil to the 2011 London Riots of which Hackney was very much the centre of creating images that shocked the world.
As the London 2012 Olympics reach their final few days it is a graphic reminder in how much has been achieved in East London since August 2011 when the landscape looked very grim indeed.
