    Travel snapshots: Otherworldly landscapes

    More from Kalalau123

    Lifeless, godforsaken, hot dull landscape

This is the grea dry river bed of Alberta's great DInsoaur Valley. 100 degrees above, snakes, scorpions, you are far from help, shade, gas or medical aid.
You have walked in miles over difficult terrain only to find nothing but great bone beds, washouts and rocks and fossils littering the ground for miles. It is all unfamiliar, all strange and all from another world: our past millions of years ago.
The landscape is unfamiliar and to read it you must be a geologist. Great femurs hang out of cliffs and vertebrae litter the landcape as far as the eye can see.
Some great dinosaur finds are at your feet and are marked to not be touched. Aerial patrols ensure no one removed important finds in this sensitive ecosystem.
