    Vermont Proposal

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Jplat42 says her fiancé spent over a year planning a trip to Vermont and had invited two of her best friends to come along with their husbands. While on a hike to the top of Mount Mansfield, she says a proposal was the last thing on her mind. "I was in shock because I was not expecting it," she says. "I think public proposals are wonderful. It takes courage for a person to get on one knee and ask someone to marry them in the presence of others. Personally, once he was on his knee I lost sight of everyone and everything around me."
    - Anika3, CNN iReport producer

I am newly engaged and my fiance proposed to me on the top of Mount Mansfield while on vacation in Vermont.

Phil and I met on Match.com in September of 2010. As it turns out, we lived less than a mile from each other for about 4 years until he moved home to help his father after his mother passed away. We found each other online and hit it off. We were both very surprised to learn that we had practically been neighbors for so long. I can't imagine how many times we walked past each other at the grocery store. He proposed on July 30th of this year. Attached is one of the pictures a friend captured. I think it clearly tells how I felt about his public proposal. My family jokes that it's a good thing I said yes since being on top of a mountain isn't the best place to disappoint someone and certainly doesn't make for an easy getaway ;-)
