"It was thrilling to see so many fellow American supporters at the game waving (and creatively wearing!) our flag to show their support for Team USA," she said. After a nailbiting match, Team USA claimed a 2-1 victory over Japan, won the gold medal and achieved a milestone for women's football. "I felt so proud to be an American and to support not only Team USA but also women's soccer more generally," she said. "There were over 80,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium to watch the game and we were proud to be a part of this world record for the number of spectators at a women's soccer game."
