My favorite sport
This sort of sport takes strength, knowledge of currents and turtles and endurance. Taking the photos is a sport in itself that requires all sorts of other disciplines.
I have these by the score, this girl is my daughter and it's her first time in the water with a turtle in Kona. The place: Kahalu'u Bay. Protected by a great reef and just a few miles from Kailua-Kona and great dining.
And it's deep and filled with turtles. The good athletes can keep up with the turtles, but they eventually ellude everyone as they can go where we cannot. But a few minutes with them is wonderful and if you listen well, you can hear them singing. Just like whales and dolphins.
