Diverse American Families Key Toward America’s Future
Hello my name is Byron Thomas and America our nation is proudly becoming diverse. It’s great to hear, watch, and read stories of White American families adopting and accepting minority children into their family. We get great movies should as the Blind Side and we hear great stories should as Gabby Douglas’s story of her mother having to send her daughter to live with an all White American family. These are great to hear, because it shows how diverse America is getting, when a family of one color can accept someone from another color (even though we are all humans and we all have the same heart). But personally I’ve always wanted to hear great stories of an all Black/Hispanic/Asian American that’s accepted White American children. I’ve personally seen and know White Americans that have adopted Black Americans but I’ve just never seen it the other way around. I want to hear about the struggle that comes along with adopting someone of another race, because even though we live in 2012, America still has ignorant people North and South. These ignorant people are going to judge and assume things that are wrong and could damage a diverse family. We saw it in the movie Blind Side where there was an issue with a white girl and black boy sleeping under the same roof. These are the types of things that probably come up a lot for these diverse families, because of the ignorant people we still have left in this country. It’s not only hard on the parents but the children as well, because kids at school will say hurtful things and say hurtful names. I just believe and hope those struggles bond these families together, because I believe its great examples for America, on how we need to move forward together. Now, I personally want to adopt a White American child (even though color does not matter) but I just want my family/household to be diverse, because I’m a very diverse person. I want to write my own story and go through any fire along the way. Hopefully America wants to hear these stories to, because it’s only going to help us move forward together and become a more united country. Because United We Stand. Kill People With Kindness and May God Bless America
