    Tornado hit Long Island

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MagicLt came onto the scene of Bohemia, New York, two hours after the tornado. When I first got there I have seen hurricanes and tornados before, that was nothing impressive, but when I swung around the neighborhood I saw a crushed car and the 200-year-old snapped tree and I was like "wow,"' he said. 'These were big trees, with deep root systems. This tornado definitely picked up strength while on the ground.'
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

A fast-moving tornado touched down Friday afternoon on the edge of Great River near Heckscher State Park. Quickly moving through Oakdale, Bohemia and ending in Ronkonkoma near Peconic and Pine streets. Trees were blown down and some had their trunks snapped in two. The worse was in Oakdale near Hollywood Drive and Shore Drive where a nearly two hundred year old maple tree that dated back to the one of the first houses built on the Vanderbilt Estate according to the home's owner. Had snapped its nearly 4 foot diameter trunk snapped in two by the twister. Less than a hundred feet away another massive maple laid across the road, blown down in a completely different direction tearing down power lines and its pole.
The tornado sped north north east crossing Sunrise Highway and into Connetquot River State Park. The tornado reemerged from the park near Louis Kossuth Ave and 8th Street in Bohemia and continued its path of remodeling and tree pruning, destroying lawn furniture and fences. Near Feuereisen Ave and 7th Street the twister was rain wrapped according to Gus Mojocoa. The twister then crosses Veterans Memorial Highway crossing into Ronkonkoma. On Alexander Court the twister pulled down two trees from opposite sides of the street with their tops laying out in the roadway. Near Ocean Avenue and County Road 93 the twister claimed its last tree. The last sign of the twister was on Peconic Street near Pine Street where broken branches and leave littered about 75 feet of the roadway.
Suffolk police said no injuries or deaths were reported. The 4 1/2 mile distance was unusually long. The Twister stayed on swaggering path only about 150 yards wide with most of the damage concentrated to the approximately 150 feet wide footprint of the Tornado. The National Weather Service stated it was a EF-0 Tornado, though the observed damage in Oakdale on Hollywood Drive looked like a Hollywood disaster movie.
