    Traditional nights

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ichalhoub says in Tripoli, Lebanon, people got together to celebrate a night of traditional festivities that were both religious and full of amusement. He says the event was significant because it was also being held during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. He says for this event, Sufis, a sect of Muslims, celebrated their religion and culture. 'One of these methods is the whirling dervishes called Mawlawi. This method occurs along with traditional religious chants along with a specific beat of a traditional drums and small cymbals. This method, which is still practiced by many groups, is utilized to animate certain nights in order to show people something uncommon,' he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

Tripoli - Lebanon. Festivities at night include unique traditional acts like blowing fire, and whirling dervishes on the rhythms of the drum and cymbals. Whirling adolescents have started at 3 years old. One of them told me "I just don't feel dizzy". They can turn and turn for half an hour without getting tired. It is one of the practices of Sufism which is specific to the northern area of the country, thus attracting hundreds. When Mahmud blew fire out of his mouth, the heat reached the lens. It was burning at 5 meters away. The leader of the band who was answering calls about requests to animate the nights of Tripoli invited me for another event the next day.
