    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     smashleycnn, an editor/producer at CNN.com, sent 5-year-old Catcher to kindergarten in Atlanta, Georgia, last week. 'I was sad and nervous but putting on a brave face. I could tell he was a little nervous, but excited too. Once he saw that another kid had his same Batman backpack, he was good to go. He did a great job!'

    This is my son's first day of kindergarten. There were a few tears (by me), but now he is off to start an excititing adventure!!
