    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     thadbridwell captured photos of the meteor shower from Mt. Pinos in the Los Padres National Forest, which is located in California. He says when he arrived at the park he noticed there were many people at the park. 'As soon as I got out of the car I could hear cheers and lots of people applauding. There were hundreds of people in the parking lot and they would scream every time they saw a meteor or every time a car turned their headlights lights on,' he said.

    I drove out to Mount Pinos in the Los Padres National Forest Saturday night to celebrate a buddy's birthday and check out the meteor shower. We had to drive 80 miles away from LA to avoid light pollution. We saw a number of meteors before the clouds started to roll in around 1:30AM. Here's one image of a Perseid meteor in front of the Milky Way. This was taken at the top of Mt. Pinos.
