Night of stars, meteors and the milky way

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Standing in a parking lot on Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, rajeshg24 says seeing the meteor shower was an amazing experience. "It was almost like watching a movie. People were applauding with each meteor appearance. It was a fun night with over a hundred people," he says. "I had not seen a meteor shower before. Boy was I surprised. The vastness of the sky and the universe was on display and we had an amazing view of it all. It was a spectacle."
    - Anika3, CNN iReport producer

It was August 11th, the night of Perseids and the location was Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest point. Over 50 photographers, astronomers and people wanting to see a starry spectacle, with meteors thrown in, visited the place. We were glad that we had a clear sky and by 10pm over 100 people gathered in the parking lot of the Brasstown Bald Visitor center.

Over the next several hours, what we saw there was nothing short of a spectacle, I had never seen the sky so beautiful, with countless stars, the milky way and several meteors that zipped past, we had people enjoying and clapping when each of the meteors appeared. I was with the Southeastern Photographic society and did photograph for over 3 hours with other photographers and these are my photos from the unforgettable night.
