    Perseids on Bleckley Street

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     photogirlkt recalls seeing her first meteor shower when she was 14-years-old and says she has looked forward to the Perseids every year since. "The year was 1994 and it was the day I flooded my parents basement! That night, the Perseids turned a crazy, hectic day into one of the best," she says. "It was so magical. It made me realize the universe is such a massive, endless place and my problems were not that big of a deal after all."

This photo, which was taken from her driveway in Wichita, Kansas, on August 13, she says she chose to capture the meteor at home and put a house in the frame because for her, it represents safety, peace and a sense of self. "The great thing about meteor showers is that you never know what to expect. You could lay outside for hours and only see a few, or you could unexpectedly see a meteor walking into your house from the car," she says. "To me, that is why it is so exciting. I am always impressed with the show the Perseids puts on for me."

this photo was taken early this morning from my driveway. I wanted to capture the constellations Perseus and Cassiopeia. After several hours I captured a meteor.
