Occupy London on the Steps of St Paul´s
Occupy London on the Steps of St Paul´s
The Occupy London encampment at St Paul´s Cathedral in the City of London was evicted already in February this year.
In October 2011 over 500 people had begun a protest against the economic inequality in London and collectively agreed on an initial statement.
The first point of the statement was: The current system is unsustainable. It is undemocratic and unjust. We need alternatives.
In addition to St Paul´s, there were also other Occupy protests at other locations in London.
In June authorities evicted an encampment at Finsbury Square just north of the City.
During The London 2012 Olympics a small group put up a tent again on the steps of St Paul´s.
After the speeches that were mainly followed by tourists protesters dismantled the tent and quietly left the square.
Police did not show up at all. It seems that Occupy London has taken an Olympic and summer break as well.
