    Remembering Elvis 35 Years Later

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     KCRep says she used to go to Beverly Hills every weekend for star gazing and 'really lucked out' the day she saw Elvis Presley. Among her memorabilia collection, she owns several figures that play Elvis music and an Elvis Pez dispenser she bought at Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee.
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

There are some events that happen in life that you just can't forget.  You remember exactly everything about that day.  I was on a staycation from work, sitting on the couch watching television, it was around 1-2pm pst when the breaking news came on.  Elvis Presley is dead. That's how it was announced!  My heart dropped, literally into my stomach.  It was like hearing about a family member on TV.  Then the phone started ringing, several calls from friends at work.  They all knew how much I loved Elvis, most of them did too.  I was wearing white shorts, no shoes, sitting under my legs, that's how much I remember about that horrible day.  Some things you just never forget.  Oh, in the middle of August, in California, it rained that day.

I can't believe it's been thirty-five years today that Elvis Presley passed away. I was lucky enough to see Elvis in concert once,in 1976. I was also lucky enough to see him in Beverly Hills just after he left Pricillas house, also in 1976. We were at a red light on opposite sides of the street, my sister was looking at his car (a Black Pantera) but she didn't say anything until we were going thru the light after it turned green, then my sister yells "THERE'S ELVIS", I look over as we were side by side and I screamed "ELVIS" he looked at me and smiled, I almost crashed!! I went to Priscilla's house and asked her if Elvis had just been there, she said yes he had. See the photo I took of Priscilla, she was extremely sweet.

Elvis is on my mind every day, my house is full of memories of him. I'm even reminded of him when I get in my car, my personalized license plates bear his name. Lisa Marie is his daughters name, and so is my daughters name Lisa Marie. I guess you can say I'm an Elvis fanatic and that's true, I don't apologize for loving a man that gave so much pleasure to so many. When I watch his movies now, I can't keep from tearing up. That voice, that face, it just can't be replaced. Some may think that I idolize him, but I don't, I just love him. Elvis is with his Mom, Dad and baby brother now, may they always rest in peace.

I took some of these pictures when I took a road trip to Graceland. The others are of memorabilla I have in the house.
