Company provides life saving support during Manila floods
For days, parts of Manila and surrounding areas have been underwater with an more than 2 million of my fellow citizens and neighbors affected by the flooding. More than a 100 have died and many more have lost their homes.
I wanted to let you know that the company I work for, C3 CustomerContactChannels, has been a source of comfort to employees like me and to our families.
There are several hundred of us who work here a C3’s customer contact center in Fort Bonifacio handling customer service calls for our clients back in the United States. And as they say in Hollywood, The Show Must Go on.
There was enough stress with the storm itself, but our employer has helped us relieve as much of that stress as possible.
Not only have we and our families been allowed to stay here where it’s safe and dry, but the company has been feeding us and providing us with things we need including diapers and formula, as well as clothing and a place to take a hot shower. Our office has been a safe place for the children of employees who have had a place to eat, sleep and stay entertained.
C3 has treated us like a family. Even other employees whose homes weren’t damaged or destroyed by the torrential storms have opened their homes to those who have lost everything.
I had one fellow worker who was missing for a couple of days and we were worried about her. She finally got a message to our corporate office in the United States via Facebook saying she was ok , but needed help getting into work. She somehow found higher ground and some transportation and did make into work along with her child. Both found a home here until it was safe to go back home.
Soon we will do some fundraising to provide financial relief to those hit hardest. Our C3 Cares team will help local communities in Manila that have been impacted by the storm.
It’s going to be a long time before things get back to normal here, but at least our company is rising to the occasion to help us through it. I have never seen this kind of support at any other employer I have worked for. Now we pray for dryer conditions.
