Paul Ryan Defended Stimulus -- When George W. Bush Wanted It In 2002 (VIDEO)

"In recessions unemployment lags on well after a recovery has taken place," Ryan accurately noted in 2002. " Rep. Paul Ryan- 2002

(video of Paul Ryan pleading for Congress to pass Bush's Stimulus in 2002)

Ryan was successful in his request that members of his party join him and they passed the stimulus that George W. Bush had asked for America's middle class.
"Bush's stimulus, which included an extension of jobless benefits and resulted in checks being mailed to millions of Americans, was signed in March 2002."

Does this sound like the Paul Ryan we hear now?

"When Congressman Paul Ryan has been asked the past few years about the value of stimulus to the sagging economy and the nation's jobless, the Wisconsin Republican has dismissed it as meaningless, and dubbed it "sugar-high economics."

"But that's when President Obama is pushing for the spending. When it was President George W. Bush arguing for more stimulus to boost a slow economy in the early 2000s, Ryan's economic analysis was entirely different."

"What we're trying to accomplish today with the passage of this third stimulus package is to create jobs and help the unemployed," Ryan said, in comments unearthed by MSNBC's "Up with Chris Hayes" and provided to HuffPost.
"What we're trying to accomplish is to pass the kinds of legislation that when they've passed in the past have grown the economy and gotten people back to work."

Now, Ryan and the GOP deny that Keynesian Economics works to bring economies out of depression and recessions. He says we need austerity and has not helped Obama by passing important legislation that would have helped put millions of Americans back to work as he did for Bush after 9/11.
This video shows the depth of Republican hypocrisy and the disingenuousness of their argument on Obama's stimulus.

They opposed policies that could have helped our country had the GOP not put their own politics ahead of what would have been best for America.
Obama is correct. Ryan is the poster child of the do nothing Congress and their intransigent position of political selfishness that needs to be purged from our system of politics once and for all.
Everything the GOP has done or not done the past two years since winning the 2010 elections on a jobs platform has been designed to defeat Obama while trashing our economy in order to regain power at the expense of middle class Americans.
