    India's Independence Celebration in NYC

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     RVCFOTO said she loved the clothes and vibrant colors of India’s Independence Day parade and festival, which took place in New York City on Sunday. Among the special guests in the parade were Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and cricketer Anil Kumble.     Manhattan celebrated India’s Independence Day on Sunday August 19 on Madison Ave with a parade and festival. Bollywood star Saif Ali Knan greeted the excited crowd as his float made its way down.

     

    One of the many groups who marched were the Gujaratis. Some of the marchers dressed like one of the most famous Gujarati-- Mohandas Gandhi. Gujarat is a state located in western India.

     

    The festivities continued with food and merchandise booths as well as dancers performing traditional dances on stage.

     

    This was one of the more colorful festivals and parades in New York City.
