America Please Let My Hard Work Get Me a Job and Not My Skin Color

Hello my name is Byron Thomas and America my worst fear is getting a job, because of my skin color and not because of my knowledge. My generation is different from the last generation and I just believe Affirmative Action needs to be changed. I’ve played sports all my life and I’ve never seen a coach start a player that isn’t the best on the team over an All-Star for an entire season. That’s like starting a player over LeBron James. Never have I also seen a coach start a black or white person because the rest of the starters are either black or white. In sports the best players’ play. No matter what color you are, if you’re the best you will be starting. I feel like the job world needs to take that approach to help encourage more competition in America. Job Applications need to also change because a lot of people’s names hurt then when they are applying for jobs. Yes, there are Black/White/Hispanic/Asian/Indian names where you can definitely tell what race they are from. My mom told me that she doesn’t like it when Black Americans name their child these names that automatically identify that child as a black person. It is true that white names get more calls then black names (Good thing my name is Byron). I just hope in today’s society, people will not have evil hearts. Let someone’s resume speak for itself, rather than a name. Also, let’s take out gender and race. Why should it matter if you’re a female or male? Let the resume speak for itself. Why should it matter if you’re black or white? Let the resume speak for itself. America all I want is a fair and even playing field, because my generation needs to move from this race thing. We don’t need any problems with old laws from the past, hurting our future. Again, I ask where is Rev. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson, or even the NAACP??? Why are they not pushing for an even playing field? Do they believe I can’t get a good paying job without help from the government? Do they still believe every white owned company just wants to hire white people and won’t give other races a chance? I truly believe I’m the same as any White/Hispanic/Indian/Asian person, because I have a mind just like they have a mind. If I do things the right way and work my tail off, then my skin color SHOULD NOT MATTER!!! Again, my worst fear is getting a job because a company needed more black people; I want to earn the job through my knowledge and hard work. My generation wants to have an even playing field with fair competition. America PLEASE let me get a job because of my hard work and not my skin color. Kill People With Kindness and May God Bless America
