    First day of school photos

An Ohm-azing First Day of School

St. Louis Homeschool Network students started their first day of "school" with several traveling Buddists from the Drepung Gomang Tibetan Colony. Currently on a one-year long trek across the globe, these Tibetan monks are raising awareness and money for their India-based community. During the morning workshop with the homeschooled kids, there was chanting and music, painting with sand, butter sculpting (actually playdoh, as yak butter was nowhere to be found), and decorating rocks with sacred symbols. Students also learned about the struggles of Tibetans to keep their religious practices alive while being banned from their own country.
