GOP Convention 2016: Iowa or bust

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Your Political Ticket iReport contest winner dcgopgirl reminds us that Hurricane Gustav threatened the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, and now she's worried that TS Isaac will do the same to the RNC in Tampa next week. 'Growing up in southeastern North Carolina, I'm no stranger to hurricanes, but I'm pretty darn tired of them interfering with GOP Conventions! So all I can say to the Convention planners is -- can we try 2016 in Iowa?' she asked. She is a media consultant and volunteer for the Romney campaign. Are you going to the RNC and worried about the impending storm? Share your story here.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

Four years ago hurricane Gustav threatened to shut down the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN. Yes, that's right, land-locked MN.

And now, it's deju-vu all over again as tropical storm Isaac is threatening to hit Tampa next week.

Sure we know Convention locations are picked for their geography and their play in the general election, but it also comes down to whether or not the area can accomodate a Convention. From a Convention hall to all the off-site locations for press and events. I know a LOT goes into the decision.

Growing up in southeastern North Carolina, I'm no stranger to hurricanes, but I'm pretty darn tired of them interfering with GOP Conventions! So all I can say to the Convention planners is -- can we try 2016 in Iowa?
