    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Hiking halfway up an old abandoned road near Saguaro Ranch in Oro Valley, AZ, sethwebster says he heard the distant rumblings of an approaching storm when he was treated to a spectacular light show. "My reaction was wow! The storm moved from the south west to the north east relatively quickly," he says. "I started snapping photos at about 8:10 pm, and it had expanded across Tucson by the time I stopped at 8:35 pm."

    Monsoons are a sight to behold in the desert southwest as the storms unleash their fury. Some of the most spectacular lightning displays in the world are found in the Tucson, AZ.region and when a good monsoon year unfolds, we are rarely disappointed.
