Around the World with Yancy - A Puppet Travel Portfolio

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Falling in love with the art of puppetry while studying theater in college, kigneczi says he built his puppet Yancy as a challenge to himself while living on the road and that the little blue companion has since become a permanent part of his traveling experiences. "You get a whole new sense of the world when seeing it through a new set of eyes. These set of eyes just happen to be made from rubber doorstops and buttons!" he says. "It sometimes becomes quite a challenge getting through airport security with a puppet in your backpack. I couldn't even begin to describe the strange looks I receive as they do their scans! But we have seen most of the fifty states, partaken in the cuisines of Europe, found ourselves quite lost in Asia, and even dodged a few kangaroos in Australia."
    - Anika3, CNN iReport producer

For the past few years I have been lucky enough to tour the world as an actor and puppeteer, taking one of my own creations along for the ride!

Wherever I go, you can be assured Yancy will make an appearance as soon as cameras are drawn. This has led to some incredible experiences abroad, breaking through language barriers and allowing me to see the magic of puppetry in many other cultures.

In addition to a memorable collection of pictures, there are also numerous videos from our travels floating around the internet as part of our ongoing travelogue.

Since I first built him in 2009 while touring with Sesame Street Live, Yancy and I have traveled to fourteen countries across three continents - and we intend to continue our journey as long as his fleece and foam hold up!
