Motorists trapped due to raging flood waters

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Helicopter reporter chopperrose was flying over Scottsdale, Arizona, in the early morning hours on August 24, after severe thunderstorms swept through the area. She says Scottsdale was experiencing flooding after excessive rain came down from the storm. Some motorists were caught in the flooding, and rescue officials came in to help. 'A medical van transporting a wheel bound patient went around some barricades in South Scottsdale, Arizona, and got swept away in a wash. I saw the women driver and the elderly male patient being rescued by firefighters,' she says. Despite the flooding, she saw some motorists drive around barricades to cross several flooded roads. 'It always amazes me the risks people will take and my heart races as I hold my breath hoping they'll make it,' she says.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

It was a busy morning for Helicopter Reporter,Tammy Rose, as she covered several water rescues in Phoenix, AZ from up above. Multiple drivers had to be rescued from their vehicles after getting swept away on flooded roads.  A series of thunderstorms moved through the area quickly filling up washes. Some people ignored barricades and signs intended to block motorists from rain-swollen roads. "It always amazes me when I see people ignore the signs and chance it only to find themselves in a scary situation," Rose said.
