CNN PRODUCER NOTE Vladid lives right across from the Empire State Building. On August 24 he got a frantic call from his friend asking if he was ok. 'He said there were reports of people being shot in front of our building, as soon as he told me that I jumped out of bed and ran onto the balcony of our apartment and saw what appeared to be a body covered with a white sheet on Fifth Avenue,' he said. The sight of the body on the ground left him with an unsettling feeling. 'For us it is one of the worse nightmares to be subjected to something like this and because it's the Empire State Building. It is such an iconic building and there is so much traffic there, you always wonder if some madman is going to do something funny,' he said. He says currently the police sealed off the scene and there are no pedestrians on the sidewalks in front of his building. He does not plan to leave his apartment any time soon. 'The body is still in the street, and there are dozens of cops everywhere,' he said.
