    Empire state building scene

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     kelywilsn says he was on his way to work when he saw a large crowd gathered a block away from the Empire State Building. 'There were a bunch of tourists everywhere and a bunch of cops,' he said. But while passing the crowd, he heard people say a shooting took place in front of the Empire State Building. He noticed the front of the building as well as a block north of the building was sealed off by police. 'When I heard about the shooting my first thought was "what a terrible thing, I should get out of here." But a part of me was like "I should see this, and I should figure out what happened,"' he said. He only stayed on the scene for a few minutes before heading off to work. 'It is fairly common to see a large group of cops in New York City. If I didn't see the large crowd of people and hear what they were saying, I would have passed right by it,' he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

After this mornings shooting, crowds and police gathered to assess the scene.
