Bad Nauheim, Germany
Germany's Elvis Tribute
Elvis has fans the world over, but he has a definite concentration of them in Germany. After all, it was here that he lived for 2 years while doing his military service. Now, the otherwise quiet "spa town" of Bad Nauheim is a European mecca for fans. Superfans flock here year-round from all over the world, actually, to see the home where Elvis lived, to see the "exact" spots where Elvis stood in certain photos, to retrace some of his footsteps...
Bad Nauheim is also the only city outside US that he actually lived for any period of time. Some have come to call it "Europe's Graceland"...
Out of interest from the fans, every August, the city eventually began celebrating the European Elvis Festival. This is the 11th annual European Elvis Festival, and it grows every year. Some of the attendees come to the event because they love everything Elvis -- not just the singing but also the cars, the clothes and the "lifestyle" of the era.
Special thanks to
European Elvis Festival for filming permissions
and
"Dr. Kingsize" for the interview and permissions to film his act
(Dr. Kingsize is Dentist during the week, Elvis Performer on the weekends!)
