    Kadayawan Festival 2012

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     His first time at the annual Kadayawan Festival in Davao City, Philippines, rolangarcia says the mood of the day was uplifting, inspirational and full of positive vibes. "Thousands of local and foreign tourist gathered to witness the colorful and vibrant festival. It's dubbed as the "King of Festivals" and one of the grandest festivals in the country," he says. "Going to festivals isn't just about taking pictures. It's more about discovering your own country. From the moment the drumbeat started, I was almost dancing in the streets. I'm just so proud to be a Filipino and this event just gave me such a sense of joy."

    The Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival in the city of Davao in the Philippines. Its name derives from the friendly greeting "Madayaw", from the Dabawenyo word "dayaw", meaning good, valuable, superior or beautiful. The festival is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living.
