    Eye of typhoon Bolaven nears Okinawa

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     barnhartjr captured a video of torrential rain and strong winds hitting Okinawa, Japan, on August 26 as a result of Typhoon Bolaven. 'Everyone is locked down on the military base, but there is word of some people evacuating as the winds have blown out windows in the city,' he said. 'It's been a slow moving storm and now it's really at its worst.' He says he prepared for the storm by stocking up on food and supplies, and says he is no stranger severe weather. 'I was in Hurricane Andrew in Miami, and this is much worse. However, the city is really prepared as the buildings here have been built to withstand this type of disaster,' he said.

    The eye of typhoon Bolaven nears the coast of Okinawa. Don Barnhart reports from Camp Foster in Okinawa.

     

    I'm a comedian hypnotist performing for the troops and was supposed to fly out today but the storm cancelled our plans.  

     

    We are staying on a base and the hotel we're at is reinforced but is still taking a pounding.

     

     

    This was shot around 11pm Okinawa time.  It's now 2:30 and the walls are rattling and the windows are shaking as it's really hitting hard now.
