For us, costuming is a family event! Before adopting our kids, we attended DragonCon for a couple of years without costumes, But, then we discovered how much fun it is to dress up and we were all hooked. We live a typical life in suburbia. Brian is a retail manager, Emily is a stay at home mom, and the kids do their kid thing. But, one weekend a year, we put on costumes and go hang out with superheroes, bad guys, and other various characters. The kids have been to Dragoncon four times, so far, and they have lots of fun coming up with costume ideas. We spend months working on our costumes. We make what we can, sometimes have pieces commissioned, and search thrift stores and ebay for accessories. The kids love putting on their costumes and becoming the character. And, of course, so do we. :) We have several group costumes this year. We'll be the Indiana Jones family, the Doctor Who family, Batman villians (Penguin, Joker, Riddler, Cat Woman, and Poison Ivy), and finally, The Avengers/Shield Agents (Captain America, Agent Coulson, Nck Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye). Also, the three boys will be in the parade as the Men In Black. Can't wait!
