    Hurricane Isaac cake

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     aimeeblsu says she wanted a project to keep her 8-year-old daughter Allie and 3-year-old daughter Ava, calm and occupied during the storm so they decided to make a cake inspired by Isaac. "As we were making the cake, I pulled up the current radar from The Weather Channel and described to them what the different colors stood for. We thought it would fun to recreate the radar using icing, food coloring, and Nerds. Allie was interested in placing the Nerds in the right spot; however, Ava was more worried about having enough to snack on," she says. "They were excited to show their grandparents the final product. It was especially cute to hear them explain that the "orange nerds" were the bad parts and the "yellow nerds" were the kind-of-bad part. They also explained to them where the eye was and how there was no rain in the eye."
