    Dolphin Love in Horse Country

Citizens of the Horse Capital of the world honk for Dolphins! As I approached the Thoroughbred Park in downtown Lexington all I could hear were car-horns....lots and lots of horns honking. Protesters were holding signs reading, "honk for dolphins". The protest, part of a worldwide effort to oppose the slaughter of dolphins in Japan. The former trainer of 1960's tv show Flipper has been featured in a documentary titled "The Cove". The Cove shows graphic footage of a Japanese government sanctioned dolphin slaughter. The protest was directly across the street from the local newspaper (Lexington Herald Leader).
