An Impromptu Trip -Luxembourg
The best trips, are said to be those which are unplanned, taken without any idea of the destination to look for. This has held so true for me.
It was a feeling that makes you feel so enthralled and satisfied with your being.
So, here goes my story ..
The plan, we friends barged on was to visit the amusement park, Europa park, the second largest in Europe. All excited with the plans of hows and whats to do , we said bye to each other with the promise of meeting at the central train station the next morning.
For me, It was supposed to be a trip of adventures since I, accumulated all my bravery and courage to ride the famous roller coasters there. So, I woke up at the dawn, all dressed up for exploring the new side of me.But Alas, a friend of mine was not keeping well that very moment and this led to the plunge of my excitement to the very bottom of the earth.
With a heavy , crunching heart, I lay on my bed thinking about how the day has turn. But, as the saying goes, " with every adversity, there lies a silver lining " , another friend of mine (let me mention that his condition was similar to mine) decided that we should go to a random place. My reaction to this sudden burst of unplanned trip left me confuse. With no idea about how and where to head to reach this city, we embarked on a journey that took us to this beautiful place known as Luxembourg city. My first tryst with this city was the sweet and ear-pleasing French. The moment, I touched the Gare (Central Train and Bus station) , I was reminded of Paris. Though I knew that Luxembourg was a country where the two cultures i.e. French and German culminates, I never expected to be so French. In my hindsight, it expected it to be more German since it was more nearer to Germany. Nevertheless, we then looked at each other with a question hanging in our minds -- What Next ? Where to go ?
With adrenaline rushing through our blood and the motivation to make this day better leaving behind the Europa Park fiasco, we headed right inside the Gare and took a city map. We did speak to the tour guide over there and found the places that one should visit being there.
So, we barged out the Gare and walked the Avenues, Avenue de la Liberte being the first destination. Wow, it was so French. The Architecture, the look of the street were so French for me. The french windows, the beautifully kept French gardens took me back to Paris once again. Walking on the Pont Adolphe (The Adolph bridge) overlooking the city took my breath away.
The Notre Dame Cathedral, The Palace of the Grand Duke amongst other were captivating. Another most important landmark, in my opinion, that anyone who visits Luxembourg should never miss is the Alter Ego of Luxembourg known as Grund. Grund, known as the old town of the city, is actally an underground town which inhabitates the old and beautiful traditions and culture of the city. With breath taking scenes in the old- town , we walked the entire stretch till we reached the summit of the old part.
Finally, I should not forget to mention that this trip was made under a scorching sun that would sap your energy and yes, with lot many pictures for which I posed happily.
The day came to a beautiful end with we resting for a while infront of a beautiful fountain in the City center.
This Trip will always be memorable for me because , this is the first time ever that I was a part of an unplanned but beautiful trip.
