    Pilot whales wash ashore on Fort Pierce Beach

    20 pilot whales of various sizes washed ashore of Avalon State Park in Fort Pierce Florida early Saturday. Beach goers did what they could to keep the whales cool and comfortable covering them with wet towels and gathering buckets of ocean water to pour on them. The Red Cross brought out tents for shade and water for the volunteers. Many local and state Marine agencies were I hand as well to gather information take samples and guide volunteers.
