My Clay pot Scarecrow and Fall Wreath
Although we do not have the four seasons of Spring,Summer,Autumn and Winter in Sri Lanka, I can get that feeling and spirit from my fellow iReporters as each season comes along, there is something fun to do, and I thought I'd do my own Fall decor to celebrate the month of Autumn, so here is my Clay pot Scarecrow which is an idea taken from CraftAtHome.com. The moment I saw this clay pot scarecrow I wanted to make it, and I searched high and low for 11 varying sizes of flower pots in Kandy, but to no avail could I find any clay pots, so I had to travel 30 miles to a place called Mawanella where there were many clay pots in abundance and with difficulty selected 11, it was difficult to get the sizes as all seemed to be made in one size and the small pots were available in only one place and was fortunate to get them. Another headache was to get the straw or raffia in which I failed miserably too and so replaced it with corn stalks striped into pieces, and also tied together with wire, as we do not have chenille stems! Came home and painted it immediately, took me one and half days to complete, and this is the finished result., along with my own fall wreath which I made out of a vine hanging outside my garden gate, could not get any of the Fall colours for the leaves, but did manage to get something of a replica in silk leaves from the flower shop.
I enjoyed doing this very much and the finished result is not bad at all.... ;D Monkey praising its own tail!!! ;D
