A Foreign Spectator’s Opinion About Romney’s Acceptance Speech at the Republican National Convention
I know that the coming US presidential election would have a great impact on the whole world. That’s why I watch earnestly such CNN’s programs like “The Situation Room” and “Political Mann”. It’s important for a foreign spectator of the ongoing US presidential campaigns like me to know the actual stances and would-be policies of a US presidential candidate with regards to such global issues like immigration, global warming, AIDS epidemic, international terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, maintaining ecological balance, etc. The US is the only Superpower right now in the world, and whoever wins the coming US presidential election would certainly influence global affairs. But Romney up to now has yet to publicly state his stances and would-be policies with regards to global issues.
I was able to watch Romney’s ‘acceptance speech’ on CNN. The acceptance speech given by Mitt Romney at the recently-held Republican National Convention wasn’t good enough. He didn’t mention the things that he would do to such international issues like immigration, global warming, AIDS, etc, if ever he gets elected to the US presidency. He didn’t say what would be his economic and political policies once he wins the coming US presidential election. Instead, he (Romney) wasted too much time criticizing Obama and telling so many anecdotes to his audience. He didn’t mention his past achievements as former governor of Massachusetts nor told the audience anything about his would-be policies if he becomes US president. Telling his audience about his great achievements as former governor of Massachusetts and, also, publicly stating his would-be policies in case he wins the presidential election right there at the RNC would bolster his image as a presidential candidate. Because he hasn’t yet publicly stated his policies with regards to global issues, we don’t have any idea of what his foreign policy would really be. As a foreign spectator who is very much interested with the ongoing presidential campaigns of Romney and Obama, I was somehow disappointed by Romney’s acceptance speech at the recently-held Republican National Convention.
