Welcome to Our World!
We all went out to the airport today-our country director, the American and Tongan staff members, the volunteers who've been here almost two years and two of us Peace Corps Response veteran folk-to greet the newest members of the Peace Corps team here in Tonga with fanfare, flowers and flags. They will have the experience of their lives, a very personal, yet global one, over the next 27 months of their service. Seeing their faces as they came outside at arrivals here in Nuku 'Alofa brought back for those of us who've been in this business a while, a point in time long ago which we will never forget. It was time for a bit of a tear in our eye and a huge smile in our heart, as we wished the same for them...they who will surely have much to share with the people and children of this kingdom on behalf of our beloved country across the ocean. So congratulations to all, can't wait to get to know you, hope you love your days and nights, your twists and turns, your friendships and your adopted family, and a wish for the best and boldest of a Peace Corps life ever here in Tonga!
