Closing the God Gap: The State of Progressive Faith Outreach

Eric Sapp, the founding partner of Eleison Group and the executive director of American Values Network, explains that while Republicans have long been identified as the party of Christianity, Democrats are most successful when they engage faith communities. In 2006, candidates who worked with Sapp on faith outreach did 20 points better with white Protestants than the average Democrat, he says. Eleison Group is "the main political consulting group working with Democrats and the progressive faith community on outreach and communication to faith and values voters," according to Sapp's biography on The Huffington Post website.
