City of Heroes Gamers Fight to Save Their World
At Dragon Con, the event I most look forward to is the City of Heroes panel. This year, the night before the event, our joy was turned to sadness. NCSoft, the parent company of Paragon Studios who is the game developer, announced they would be closing our beloved world. Not only were those employed by Paragon blindsided just as much as we were, but they also lost their jobs in a tough economy. Rather than being overcome with grief, or wallowing in self-pity, the die-hard fan base of our community sprang into action. We have decided not to take this lying down. We hit the forums, made a plan and crafted a petition. By the writing of this article, over 11000 players have signed, with more still to come. We implore NCsoft to restore our digital world. We are heroes! This is what we do! City of Heroes is worth saving! Each year our community has raised thousands for the Real World Hero project (http://realworldhero.com/). City of Heroes unites us in this and other efforts and we would like to remain united! This is your turn world to help us save ours. Below you can find a link to the petition. As of tonight 9/8/2012 #SaveCOH was trending number one on Twitter. Keep it up all.
