First day of school photos |
Back to School!
- dsashin, CNN iReport producer
Day One is in the books and the kids made it back to school without any problems. Although there were some troubles sleeping last night (what kid doesn’t have trouble sleeping in anticipation of the first day of the new school year?), the kids were up without incident this morning. After packing their bags, getting breakfast ready and setting up lunches (Seriously, I think my wife is the only parent that packs Macaroni & Cheese in a thermos for lunch) the kids were ready to head out for their first day of school.
We had some time to take a quick photo for the memory book which the kids were happy (?) participate in, then walked them to school. Like every year, there were a tonne of kids and parents, unsure of what the new school year would bring and plenty of lost folks wandering the halls. After taking Madison (11) and Emma (8) to their classrooms, my wife and I left them to begin their new year! I dropped my wife off at work soon after, before returning home to spend my day.
Boy, it sure was quiet today. Too quiet.
3:30 came very quickly though and I left to pick the kids up from school. With an umbrella that was buckling at the seams with the torrential downpour we got in Binbrook, I made it to the school right at the sound of the bell. After getting home and unpacking, the kids filled me in on their first day and how it wasn’t like anything they were anxious about the night before.
All’s well that ends well after Day One of the new school year, although the kids are already asking how many more days until their next Summer vacation!
