I didn't know the term "Bush Doctrine" and I'd be surprised if most Americans know what it was. But I'm also not running for Vice-President of the USA. If tonight's interview didn't scare the crap out of you that Sarah Palin may actually be in charge of this country in the next four years, then you must have more faith in God's plan than I do.

Back in 2002,  I was a first-time president of a home owner's association of about 300 condos. By most accounts, I did okay. But under no circumstances did I then think I was qualified to run for mayor of the city!!! It's not the same thing. To quote Samuel L. Jackson from Pulp Fiction, "it ain't even the same (expletive deleted) ballpark!"

The answer on the Bush Doctrine is forgivable. The answers regarding Russia's proximity is not, as she clearly wasn't joking. Her first answer to Russia and war illustrates that she does not know how to answer a question in the public eye...that answer probably raised a few hackles around the world. That kind of thing causes people to get jumpy and markets to sink. Her answer regarding foreign leaders was bull, as was her answer about "God's plan." And the kicker, is that her position on the use of force in Pakistan is actually in conflict with McCain's! It was Obama's position.

The point of this article isn't to bash Sarah Palin. I'm sure she will continue to learn and develop her world knowledge. Governors are going to be lacking on foreign affairs...but this is different. It is a mockery of the sacrifices of all people that given to build this country's greatness. To be VP to a 72 year-old cancer survivor?!?! No way.

The Palin interview with ABC contrasts extremely well with the Presidential Candidate Forum on National Public Service. Regardless of which candidate you preferred, you heard answers from politicians that had not just done a Wikipedia cram. They are deeply familar with the nuances of this government and how they feel it should be run. Some people prefer McCain's short and direct answers. Others, like myself, prefer to know that Obama's brain is considering the most important facets of a particular issue. But at least both candidates knew what they were talking about! And I guarantee you Biden would have too!

Even Dick Cheney would be a step up from Palin. This women isn't that. She's not Hillary Clinton, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Katherine Sebelius, Condi Rice, or any other person with worldly knowledge. McCain should have made Palin his Energy Secretary if energy (aka oil) is her only qualification. Energy knowledge is not foreign policy.

I keep hearing Palin (and Bush) fans say that they want someone that is like them, that can relate to them, and that they like to be their leader. In all candor, I think that is what Congress is for, and I think that's one of the biggest problems with Congress. They can be divorced from the day to day problems of everyday people. But I don't want that for my leader. I want people that are smarter than I am, that know more than me, that challenge and inspire me. It can be a man or a woman. But they better not be a "moose in the headlights."

Please think about whether you would entrust your kids and this country to Sarah Palin because those are the stakes. And I question McCain's judgment for picking her in the first place.
